Q: Do any of your services have monthly contracts?
A: No, all our services are contract-free!
Q: Does your wireless service work in bad weather?
A: Yes in bad weather our wireless service works fine. Occasionally under heavy fog, heavy wet snow or freezing rain conditions the service may be interrupted brielfy depending on how far you are from the transmitter.
Q: What are your POP3 and SMTP servers?
A: Our POP3 and SMTP servers are both "mail.optionsdsl.ca", your username is your FULL email address, eg:

, and your password is what you chose during installation.
Q: What types of payment methods do you accept?
A: We accept personal cheques mailed in or our preferred method is Automated Funds Transfer (Preauthorized chequing). To keep our costs low and therefore your costs low, we do not accept credit cards or online banking.
Q: What does the wireless equipment look like?
A: Please check back for images soon of a "Customer Premise Equipment" (CPE) but the device is usually about 1 foot square equipped with a mounting bracket to attach to your home or tower.
Q: Do I need a tower for the CPE?
A: Depends in how far you are from the transmitter, in some cases it can be mounted simply on the side of your house, and in other cases a relatively tall tower is required to get "Line of Sight" Please check back soon for some images of installations.
Q: Do you allow Peer to Peer (P2P) file sharing on your network?
A: Yes P2P file sharing programs are allowed, but because of the amount of connections these programs open, the allowed speed is reduced to about twice the speed of dial-up. On DSL connections this is about 20 times the speed of dial-up.
Q: Is it possible for P2P file sharing programs to allow my computer to become infected with virsuses/allow poeple to steal personal information?
A: Absoutely. You should have the latest AntiVirus software installed and monitor the use of such program closely. We do not recommend the use P2P filesharing programs.
Q: Do I get a "Public" IP address? Can I run servers in my home?
A: Yes all users get a Publically accessible IP address, but running of FTP, HTTP or Email servers are not permitted. They are however permitted on DSL connections at the time of this writing.
Q: Can I use a wireless router with your Wireless or DSL Internet Service?
A: Absolutely! But we ask that you don't run your wireless router on the same channel as your wireless CPE, as you might find that you are interrupting your own Internet service. Please call for help on changing the channel.
Q: Can my cordless phone be interfering with my Wireless Internet?
A: Some cordless phones, microwaves, baby monitors, and other household devices can interfere with your Wireless Internet service, we ask that you move the device farther away from the outside CPE or discontinue its use if it causes problems with your Internet. Upgrading to 5.8ghz cordless phones or baby monitors eliminates this problem.
Q: How do I properly reset my router in the event of no Internet or Power Failure?
A: Please download the instructions here and print a copy for future reference.
Q: How long does it take to install the Wireless Internet Service?
A: Depending on your premesis, it can take up to 3 hours for a proper installation.
Q: Do I have to be home for a Site Survey?
A: No! We can do that without you being home, as long as you authorize us to go onto your property or roof to perform it.
Q: Do you have to run a wire for the Wireless Service?
A: Yes. The wireless connection is between your CPE, and our transmitters, the Internet is delivered to your computer via industry standard outdoor rated Cat5 wiring, with standard protocols.
